Viveka daughter asks Naidu to lift case on her

Dr. Narreddy Sunitha, daughter of the late Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy, former minister and YSR Congress party leader, sought the assistance of Telugu Desam Party president and current Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, N Chandrababu Naidu, in seeking justice for her father’s murder case.

Sunitha, along with her husband Rajasekhar Reddy, met the chief minister at the state secretariat in Amaravati on Tuesday.

She explained how the Kadapa police had filed false cases against them, as well as against Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Superintendent of Police Ram Singh.

"The accused in the case tried to intimidate the CBI officer, me, and my husband by filing false cases against us through Vivekananda Reddy's personal assistant, M V Krishna Reddy," she alleged. Readmore!

She requested Naidu to have the complaint re-examined and ensure that the false cases against them are revoked. She also called for a CB-CID investigation into the false allegations.

Naidu reportedly told her that he was aware of the situation and assured her that he would look into the matter and ensure justice for Vivekananda Reddy's family.

In December 2023, the Kadapa police booked a case of abetment against Sunitha, her husband Rajasekhar Reddy, and CBI SP Ram Singh following the directions of a local court in Pulivendula. Ram Singh is investigating the murder of Vivekananda Reddy.

The first-class magistrate court issued the orders based on a private complaint filed by M.V. Krishna Reddy, former personal assistant to Vivekananda Reddy.

Krishna Reddy alleged that Sunitha, Rajasekhar, and Ram Singh pressured him to provide a statement implicating Devireddy Siva Sankar Reddy and other prominent political leaders.

A case has been registered under sections 352, 323, 330, 342, 348, 506, 195-A, 166 A(b), and 109 of the IPC, read with 156(3) of the CrPC.

According to the FIR, on November 30, 2021, the complainant was confined by the SP in the guest house of the central prison in Kadapa, where he was pressured to give false evidence.

The SP allegedly claimed that he had helped driver Dastagiri and watchman Ranganna get out of jail as they had cooperated with him and demanded that the complainant provide false evidence in return for being spared from the case. Otherwise, he threatened to send the complainant back to jail by canceling his bail orders.

It is alleged that the officer offered inducements, threats, and promises to the complainant to obtain a false statement.
