Even as Dr Narreddy Sunitha, daughter of slain former Andhra Pradesh minister Y S Vivekananda Reddy has been waging a legal battle to get justice in the case related to the murder of her father nearly seven years ago, his widow Y S Sowbhagyamma found that her valuable agriculture land in Pulivendula was grabbed by some people during the previous Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy regime.
According to reports in a section of media, Sowbhaghyamma owned 7.03 acres of land worth approximately Rs 4 crore in K Velamvaripalle village of Pulivendula mandal, purchased way back on February 17, 2006.
Recently, when attempts were made to carry out mutation of the land, she was shocked to find that the property no longer appeared in her name on the Webland records.
Examination of documents revealed that the land remained in her name until 2022. Subsequently, 2.91 acres were allegedly transferred to a person named Sagili Venkata Sowbhagyalakshmi, whose name closely resembles that of Sowbhaghyamma.
Sowbhaghyamma lodged a formal complaint with present Kadapa district collector Cherukuri Sridhar. Following this, Pulivendula Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) Chinnaiah conducted an inquiry and submitted a report to Joint Collector Aditi Singh.
The report confirmed illegal alterations in Webland records concerning 4.12 acres, which were shifted from Sowbhaghyamma’s regular account to a notional account. A field survey conducted by the Mandal Surveyor reaffirmed that the land belonged to Sowbhaghyamma.
The inquiry report further stated that the illegal changes were made during the tenure of then tehsildar K Madhava Krishna Reddy, who served in Pulivendula between 2020 and 2024.
Although the coalition government has since come to power, Madhava Krishna Reddy is currently serving in the district collectorate and has recently been promoted as deputy collector.
He continues to handle sensitive responsibilities related to prohibited land lists. The report concludes that, as per revenue records, the land legally belongs to Sowbhaghyamma and that the Webland transfers were carried out unlawfully.
