Nandamuri Balakrishna and Boyapati Srinu’s “Akhanda 2,” the sequel to Akhanda, has completed 11 days of its theatrical run.
The film had its premiere on December 11, but its box-office performance has remained underwhelming.
Even after nearly two weeks, the film has failed to cross the $1 million mark in North America. It collected just around $35k in its second weekend, taking the total to approximately $960k.
In the domestic Indian market, Akhanda 2 has managed to collect about â¹85 crore net. Despite this, the film has turned out to be a loss venture for all parties involved across Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and North America.
Trade circles estimate that distributors in domestic markets are facing losses of nearly 50%. Initially, there was optimism that regions such as Guntur, Rayalaseema, and Krishna might recover over 80%, but current assessments suggest that, barring one or two pockets, most areas are heading toward around 50% losses.
Adding to the trouble, the producers are reportedly left with no surplus, having already struggled to clear old dues—a factor that delayed the film’s release by a week.
As a result, they are unlikely to be able to pay the GST amount to distributors, further cementing distributor losses at around 50%.
