Telangana Rashtra Samithi on Monday conducted its plenary at Hitex in Hyderabad on a grand scale, as part of its celebrations of 20 years of party foundation.
As expected chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was re-elected as TRS president for the ninth consecutive time.
It was a glittering event with over 6,000 delegates attending it and several resolutions were adopted to praise KCR’s leadership and the achievements of the TRS government in the last seven years.
All the ministers and MLAs, MLCs and MPs of TRS were present at the plenary, except KCR’s nephew and finance minister T Harish Rao and a couple of ministers, who were busy campaigning for the party in Huzurabad assembly constituency going for by-elections on October 30.
Harish Rao and others, however, extended their greetings to KCR for being elected as the TRS president once again and also to the party for completing the journey of 20 successful years.
But one person who was conspicuous by absence was KCR’s daughter and MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha.
Initially, everybody felt that Kavitha had stayed back in Dubai, where she had gone last week to celebrate screening of Bathukamma festival on Burj Khalifa on behalf of Telangana Jagruthi.
Party sources, however, said Kavitha had returned to Hyderabad on Sunday itself and was very much there at home when the TRS plenary was going on.
“She was suffering from slight fever and had been advised rest. Hence, she could not attend the plenary,” party sources said.
What is surprising is that Kavitha did not even directly posted a message on Twitter wishing her father on his election as the TRS president for the ninth term or any other message congratulating the party for completing 20 years.
All that Kavitha did was to retweet the pictures and messages posted by the TRS party without any quotes of her own. She also retweeted the TRS party’s live streaming of the party plenary.
This led to the talk that Kavitha is upset for some reason.
“One can understand she did not attend plenary on health grounds. But she could have at least posted some tweets congratulating her father and the party on its 20th year of foundation. So, there is something fishy,” a senior Telugu journalist covering TRS beat observed.
