SC Rejects Plea Against HC Shifting To AP

The Supreme Ccourt on Wednesday rejected a petition filed by the Andhra Pradesh High Court Advocates Association (APHCAA) on shifting the AP high court at Amaravati as the petition has become infructuous with the functioning of AP high court from Wednesday.

The association moved to the apex court stating that the Andhra Pradesh government had failed to fulfill its promise of keeping the high court building ready by December 15.

The association wanted the SC to temporary hold the bifurcation of the joint high court of AP and Telangana in Hyderabad until the AP government completes the construction work of the court building, roads, accommodation, and infrastructure development around the proposed high court building at Nelapadu at Amaravati.

Since the AP high court has already started its operations in Amaravati, the Supreme Court bench rejected the petition saying they cannot intervene in this issue.

It may be mentioned that Justice Chagari Praveen Kumar was sworn in as the acting chief justice of AP High Court on January 1 at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium in Vijayawada along with 14 other judges.
