Tamil Nadu BJP state president Nainar Nagendran has finally apologised to actress Trisha.
Earlier, he had made indirect and strong remarks suggesting that Trisha was in a relationship with TVK chief Vijay.
His comments created a big controversy and drew sharp criticism from political parties and the film industry.
Trisha strongly reacted to the remarks and said the comments were disgusting and unacceptable. She openly condemned the BJP leader and warned that she would take legal action.
After facing heavy backlash, Nainar Nagendran stepped back and announced that he was withdrawing his comments on Trisha.
With this apology, the controversy appears to have been closed for now. However, many feel that the damage caused by such comments cannot be erased so easily.
Trisha has acted with Vijay in two films in recent times. At present, Vijay is very active in Tamil politics as the leader of TVK and is gearing up for a serious political battle.
He has openly challenged the BJP and questioned its relevance in the state. Because of this, many believe that Trisha was dragged into politics as part of a political mind game targeting Vijay.
Trisha, who has no direct connection with politics, was reportedly shocked by the BJP leader’s remarks. Her strong reaction and legal warning intensified the issue.
At the same time, there was widespread discussion on social media accusing the BJP of repeatedly making disrespectful comments about women.
Political observers say Nagendran withdrew his remarks fearing further political damage and public outrage.
