This is the latest confession from the casting head of Dhurandhar, Mukesh Chhabra.
While speaking about the film’s casting choices to national media outlet Hindustan Times, he mentioned that initially three other actors were considered for the character of Rehman Dakait. Out of them, two were from Bollywood and one was from the South.
Mukesh Chhabra revealed that one of the actors said, “This is one among many characters in the film,” while another remarked, “This is Ranveer’s picture,” and rejected the offer, feeling that their character did not have enough importance in the film.
Eventually, Aditya Dhar decided to move ahead with Akshaye Khanna for the role. Akshaye Khanna immediately agreed to play the part after understanding the script and the real depth of his character.
The rest is history. We now know what kind of boost Akshaye Khanna’s career received with the powerful role of Rehman Dakait in the film.
Dhurandhar is the film that has hooked the nation’s box office with its two parts, with Akshaye Khanna dominating the entire first part.
The film is based on the spy activities of Indian intelligence in Pakistan, woven with intelligence, patriotism, gravity and class by director Aditya Dhar.
Sara Arjun, Rakesh Bedi, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna and many others gained wide recognition for being part of this film.
But the big question remains; who could be the South actor who rejected this offer? Any guesses?
