Former Union minister and senior leader A Sai Pratap, who was once the right hand of former chief minister Y S Rajasekhar Reddy, has been in a state of uncertainty ever since he had quit the Telugu Desam Party in March 2019.
For the last few days, there have been reports that Sai Pratap would join the Bharatiya Janata Party.
It was reported that he would formally don the saffron shawl in the presence of BJP co-in-charge of Andhra Pradesh affairs Sunil Deodhar and state unit president Somu Veerraju in a day or two.
However, Sai Pratap on Monday clarified that he had not taken any decision on joining the BJP and dismissed all such reports as mere speculations.
“I have not taken any such decision, but it is true that my son-in-law is joining the BJP,” Sai Pratap said.
The former Union minister, who was a powerful leader from Kadapa during YSR regime, lost all his glory after the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.
Having no other option, be joined the TDP in 2016 following a call given by party president N Chandrababu Naidu, but was not given any post.
In 2019, Sai Pratap expected the TDP ticket from Rajampet parliamentary constituency, but Naidu ignored him. Disgusted with it, he quit the party.
There was a talk that he might join the YSRC, but he did not get any such invitation from Jagan Mohan Reddy. So, he has been keeping away from active politics since then!
