Cash Jobs for F-1 Students? Viral Claim Rocks Texas

A viral post on social media has sparked controversy in Frisco after a clip claimed that a local restaurant is offering jobs exclusively to F-1 student visa holders and paying wages only in cash or via Zelle.

The claim was shared widely on X (formerly Twitter) by accounts including Carlos Turcios, who says he is part of the Texas State Guard and a Republican committee member in Tarrant County. The message urged action against what was framed as an influx of foreign workers.

In the audio clip, a caller said he rang the advertised number of what he identified as “Bollywood Pizza House”, an Indian restaurant in Frisco.

He claimed the person on the line asked him about his F-1 college status and indicated the business employs students from the University of Texas (U&T). Readmore!

The woman on the call reportedly invited him to meet in person and discussed his course details.

However, there is no independent verification of the allegation that the restaurant is hiring only F-1 students or that it pays solely in cash.

No official investigation or confirmation from authorities or the business has been reported so far.

The claim gained traction at a time when immigration and employment issues are politically charged in Texas. State leaders, including Governor Greg Abbott, have recently moved to restrict hiring of H-1B professionals by state agencies and universities, amid scrutiny of visa misuse allegations. Attorney General Ken Paxton has also been probing firms that hired H-1B workers in the past.

It’s important to note that United States immigration and labor rules restrict work options for F-1 students.

Generally, they can only work part-time on campus and must meet specific conditions for any off-campus employment after their first academic year. Working off-campus without proper authorization can violate visa rules and jeopardize their status.

At this stage, the viral claim remains unverified, and no credible evidence confirms that the restaurant is hiring only F-1 students or engaging in illegal payment practices.

Readers are advised to treat the social media posts with caution until official information is available.
