Recently, music composer A R Rahman was at the centre of controversy after saying his religion may have affected film offers in recent years.
Now, senior actor Naseeruddin Shah has claimed he was disinvited from a university event because of his political views, which are critical of Narendra Modi.
Shah said he was first invited to attend Jashn-e-Urdu, organised by the Urdu Department of Mumbai University on February 1.
Later, he was informed that his presence was no longer required. He claimed no official reason was given for the decision. He said the insult stemmed from his views and criticism of Narendra Modi.
In a newspaper opinion piece, Shah strongly criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling him a self proclaimed Vishwaguru.
He said he has long been unhappy with the Prime Minister’s leadership and added that Modi’s attitude and actions over the past decade have disappointed him.
Shah also criticised the NDA government, saying dissent is often branded anti national.
He spoke about rising hate, arrests of activists, and changes to education. Mumbai University has not responded to his claims so far.
