No Central Funds For Telangana Projects?

The Narendra Modi-led NDA government in the Centre has been neglecting not only Andhra Pradesh but also Telangana with regard to release of funds for the key projects.

The recent statement made by the Centre in Parliament rejecting any central funds to the flagship programmes of the state like Mission Bhagiratha and Mission Kakatiya, besides several irrigation projects has angered the Telangana Rashtra Samithi government.

TRS working president K T Rama Rao told media on Saturday that the Central government was not extending cooperation for completing the projects in Telangana. He recalled the statement of the Prime Minister praising the Mission Bhagiratha.

“The project has earlier received a national award. Several state governments are steadying the project to implement it in their respective states. But the Centre is only giving awards, not funds, to the projects,” he said. Readmore!

He recalled NITI Aayog recommendation that Rs 19000cr should be allotted to projects in Telangana and strongly objected to Center's negligence in granting funds.

The TRS leader pointed out that while every State was given a national project, Modi was refusing to recognise Kaleshwaram Project as a national project despite promising to announce it so. Similarly, clearances for Sitarama Project were being delayed on the pretext of it being a new project, whereas it was an ongoing project.
