No question of turning approver, says Kavitha

Bharat Rashtra Samithi MLC and former Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s daughter Kalvakuntla Kavitha on Tuesday ruled out the possibility of turning an approver in Delhi liquor policy scam, in order to fix Aam Admi Party chief and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal.

Describing the case filed against her by the Enforcement Directorate as a fabricated and a false case, Kavitha told reporters before being produced before the Delhi court that there was no money laundering involved in it.

“This is not a money laundering case, but a case of political laundering. I might be arrested for a temporary period in the case, but it will not get demoralised with such cases,” he said.

Accusing the Narendra Modi of arm-twisting and intimidating the leaders by fixing them in the case, Kavitha pointed out that one such leader has already joined the BJP and another accused was given ticket by the BJP.

“The third accused gave Rs 50 crore to the BJP in the form of electoral bonds,” she said.

Stating that there was no question of turning an approver in the case, Kavitha expressed confidence that she would come out clean in the case.

Meanwhile, Kavitha’s lawyers appealed to the Delhi court to grant her interim bail, as she has to look after her son who is attending annual examinations. The ED authorities, however, sought some time to file a counter to the petition filed by her.

The Rouse Avenue Court, which heard the arguments on both the sides, reserved the judgement.

Kavitha has been in the custody of Enforcement Directorate authorities in Delhi since March 16, a day after she was arrested by them in Hyderabad. The ED authorities grilled her on various issues and obtained key information from her.

The ED custody came to an end on Tuesday and she was produced in the court with a plea that they needed her custody for another two weeks, as they have to elicit more information from her.
