Didn't take money to back this BJP candidate: Renu Desai

An off-the-cuff comment made by erstwhile Tollywood heroine and Jana Sena Party president Pawan Kalyan’s first wife Renu Desai on her social media handle triggered an uproar in the political circles on Friday.

Taking to her Instagram handle, Renu Desai posted a message appreciating the Bharatiya Janata Party candidate from Hyderabad Lok Sabha seat Kompella Madhavi Latha, who is taking on All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslieen president Asaduddin Owaisi.

Posting a picture of Madhavi Latha on Instagram, Renu Desai said she had seen such a strong woman after a long time. So far, it is okay, but her next sentence is the one which irritated Pawan Kalyan fans.

“And no, I didn’t get any money from anyone for this post. I felt it so I felt like sharing,” Renu Desai said.

The comment has gone viral and some of the die-hard fans of Pawan Kalyan are of the view that she had made the comment only to take pot shots at the power star. They point out that even in the past, she hade made some indirect comments against Pawan.

Obviously, they are hurt because Pawan Kalyan is often being criticised by his political rivals as “package star” for surrendering to the Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu by taking money.

More than 22,000 people liked her posting on Instagram, but the comments’ section is so far empty. Yet, Jana Sena Party workers in their own social media groups are criticising Renu Desai.
