New High Court For AP From New Year!

At last, two Telugu states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana will have separate high courts from January 1, 2019, the New Year day.

President Ramnath Kovind on Wednesday issued a notification to this effect. While the new high court of Andhra Pradesh will function from Amaravati, the existing high court in Hyderabad will function as Telangana high court.

As such, the present Hyderabad high court of judicature for Telangana and Hyderabad states will cease to exist from January 1.

Justice Ramesh Ranganathan, who was posted as Jharkhand high court, will become the chief justice of Andhra Pradesh high court. The new chief justice for Telangana will be appointed soon.

Out of existing 27 judges in the common high court, 16 had been allotted to AP and 11 to Telangana, as per the Presidential notification.

It will be the 25th high court in the country and will initially function from a temporary premises being constructed in Amaravati, which will be ready in a couple of months.

The Andhra Pradesh government has already started the construction of Justice City in the new capital.

All the allotted staff and judges will be shifted to the temporary premises before the appointed date.
