The sudden visit of Sri Sri Tridandi Ramanuja Chinna Jeeyar Swamy to Ramatirtham temple in Nellimarla mandal of Vizianagaram district on Friday came as a big surprise.
Jeeyar Swamy came to Ramatirtham without any prior intimation and inspected the temple, the beheaded idol of Lord Rama and the pond in which the severed portion of the idol was dumped.
His visit was surprising, because he announced that he would start visiting all temples in the state from January 17 to propagate the significance of temples and the need to safeguard Hindu dharma. But he made a sudden visit to Ramatirtham on Friday.
Chinna Jeeyar expressed concern over lack of any facilities in Ramatirtham temple.
He made certain suggestions to the endowments department to reconstruct the temple as part of Agama Sastra.
“There is every need to create all facilities in the temple,” he said.
The Swamiji said the Ramatirtham incident should be a wake-up call for the government, who should take all measures to provide security to temple even in the remotest areas.
He said he would be going around all the temples from Sunday to know how they were being desecrated by miscreants.
He said he would make suggestions to the government to prevent recurrence of such incidents.
