The reports doing rounds in a section of media that Enforcement Directorate has begun investigation into alleged insider trading of lands in Amaravati, wherein several big people had bought lands in their benami names heated up political atmosphere in Andhra Pradesh again.
Since last night, there have been reports that the ED authorities had swung into action and summoned officials of the AP Capital Region Development Authority to place all the files pertaining to the land deals in Amaravati before them.
The ED authorities, divided into four teams, are also said to be probing into the Employees State Insurance (ESI) scam, involving Atchen Naidu and Agrigold scam as well.
The authorities have also reportedly been gathering evidences from the Crime Investigating Department probing into these scams.
While it is not clear as to what sort of money laundering is involved in ESI and Agrigold scams, the investigation into the Amaravati land scam will definitely kick up a lot of political row.
The CID authorities had already written to the ED seeking investigation into the insider trading. Since the ED will take up every case seriously and will not leave it till it goes to a logical end, the reports generated a lot of curiosity.
Sources said there would be some crucial developments in the ED investigation into the Amaravati land scam, without disclosing what these crucial developments are.
“The ED authorities are going deep into the financial background of over 700 white ration card holders who had bought lands worth crores of rupees in Amaravati. Similarly, they are also looking into who had obtained returnable plots in lieu of the lands surrendered under land pooling scheme. There is every possibility that the ED might book cases against the suspects shortly,” sources said.
