Ex-Cong minister Jeevan Reddy to quit party?

Senior Congress leader and former Telangana minister T Jeevan Reddy is said to be contemplating call it quits to the party, in protest against the humiliation meted out to him by the party in general and chief minister A Revanth Reddy in particular in his constituency Jagitial.

According to reports, Jeevan Reddy reportedly voiced serious dissatisfaction over the party’s distribution of tickets for the upcoming municipal elections, triggering fresh speculation about internal factional tensions within the Congress in Jagtial district.

According to sources, Jeevan Reddy expressed anguish before his supporters, alleging that his voice was “stifled” in the seat-sharing process and that the Congress high command failed to deliver justice to his faction.

Sources said he is reportedly considering quitting the Congress, if not politics altogether. He is of the view that the party is giving preference to defected Bharat Rashtra Samithi MLA M Sanjay Kumar, who has allegedly split the party in the constituency. Readmore!

The Jagtial Municipality consists of 50 wards, and party insiders indicate that the Congress leadership allocated: 29 tickets to the camp of Sanjay Kumar and only 21 tickets to the Jeevan Reddy group.

This imbalance has reportedly deepened resentment among Jeevan Reddy’s loyalists, who feel sidelined despite his seniority and longstanding role in the party.

The disagreement is not new. For nearly one-and-a-half years, differences have persisted between Jeevan Reddy and Sanjay Kumar, particularly after the latter’s defection from the BRS to the Congress.

Jeevan Reddy had earlier sharply criticised the importance being accorded to Sanjay Kumar within the party, arguing that long-serving Congress leaders were being ignored.

With the municipal ticket issue now intensifying the rift, political observers believe the dispute has reached a critical stage.

The developments have created political tension in the district. Police have reportedly increased security arrangements at MLA Sanjay Kumar’s camp office, as uncertainty looms over Jeevan Reddy’s next political move.

Discussions are gaining momentum in local circles that Jeevan Reddy’s future within the Congress could be approaching a “climax point,” raising questions about possible rebellion or realignment ahead of the polls.
