Will Revanth Padayatra Fetch Him PCC Chief Post?

It looks like Telangana Congress MP from Malkajgiri A Revanth Reddy has decided to go all out to prove his popularity among the masses and attract the attention of the party high command in his attempt to get the Pradesh Congress Committee chief post.

It was evident from the way Revanth took a sudden decision on Sunday night to launch a padayatra from Achampet in Nagarkurnool district to Hyderabad to highlight the problems of farmers in view of the controversial farm laws of the Centre.

Though it appeared to be a spontaneous decision of Revanth, sources say it was actually a pre-planned move by him.

In a strategic way, Revanth’s supporters like Mallu Ravi and Sitakka who attended the Achampet rally of farmers, asked him to launch a padayatra to highlight the farmers’ issues and he readily agreed for the same. Readmore!

Calling his 130-km long walk as “Rajiv Rythu Barosa Yatra,” so that nobody in the party can raise any objection, the PCC working president began his padayatra immediately and walked for nine kilometres up to Uppunutala village.

Following the footsteps of Y S Rajasekhar Reddy, N Chandrababu Naidu and Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, Revanth Reddy chose to sleep in a tent erected on the road side and released the pictures to the media, thereby evoking huge publicity.

On Monday, Reddy continued his walk for a distance of nearly 25 km up to Chintapalli. Along the route, he went into the fields and interacted with farmers on the road side to understand their problems.

Sources said if Revanth gets tremendous response in his padayatra, he might continue it in different parts of the state in the next three years. But he will get the legitimacy if he is given the PCC chief post.

Let us wait and see whether Revanth’s strategy works out and the high command makes him the PCC chief.
