Why Kodandaram, why not Kaushik Reddy?

The approval given by Telangana Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan for the nomination of Prof M Kodandaram as the state legislative council member under Governor’s quota, triggered strong protests from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi.

BRS working president K T Rama Rao on Friday alleged that the Governor has shown double standards in nominating Kodandaram to the legislative council under Governor’s quota, as he is heading a political party called Telangana Jana Samithi.

In the past, the Governor had rejected the nominations of BRS leaders Padi Kaushik Reddy, Dasoju Sravan and K Satyanarayana as MLCs under the Governor’s quota on the ground that they were political leaders and do not fit into the service sector category.

Now, KTR turned the tables on Tamilisai on the same reason. Readmore!

He pointed out that the governor had previously rejected the recommendation of the BRS government for nominating leaders like Dasoju Sravan and K Satyanarayana for MLC posts under Governor’s quota on the ground that they had political connections.

“But the same governor has overlooked Prof Kodandaram's affiliations despite him leading a political party called TJS. The Governor should give an explanation to the people. Raj Bhavan is run with public money and the governor is ultimately answerable to the people of Telangana and not the chief minister,” he said.

KTR alleged that the Governor had blindly approved the Revanth Reddy government’s recommendation for MLC nominees, as there is an unholy nexus between the Congress and BJP in the state.

Former minister T Harish Rao also took to “X” to allege that the appointment of MLCs under the governor’s quota indicated a clandestine understanding between the Congress and BJP.

The Governor was acting much in tune with the agenda of the BJP to benefit the Congress government and party in the state, he commented.
