At a time when almost all the opposition parties and even the media have been exposing the inept handling of the situation in Srikakulam district post Cyclone Titli by the Telugu Desam Party government headed by chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, former Central Bureau of Investigation joint director V V Lakshminarayana’s praise for Naidu evoked a lot of surprise.
Naturally, the YSR Congress party has smelt something fishy in Lakshminarayana’s statement.
“It is surprising that the former CBI officer is praising Naidu for relief work in cyclone-affected Srikakulam. It clearly shows that he is hand in glove with the TDP president not only now, but also in the past when he was investigating the case of YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy,” YSRC official spokesperson Vasireddy Padma said.
She recalled that when Lakshminarayana was investigating Jagan’s case, he used to pass on information to a section of media so that they could publish negative stories against the YSRC chief.
He also leaked false information about Jagan’s wife Bharati in the Bharati Cements case.
“The same gentleman, who is claiming to be a clean character, took all the pains to go to Srikakulam and give a certificate of appreciation to Naidu in providing relief and carrying out rehabilitation work for the cyclone affected people,” Padma said.
It shows the kind of networking between the ex-CBI officer and the pro-TDP media which has been there since the days of his investigation into the Jagan’s case, she alleged.
