Hundreds of farmers from Amaravati, mostly women, have been doing intense lobbying in New Delhi to stop shifting of the administrative capital of Andhra Pradesh to Visakhapatnam.
While the Amaravati JAC leaders and Telugu Desam Party leaders have been claiming that majority of the people of Amaravati are poor small and marginal farmers, one wonders how they could go to New Delhi by flight and stay in the capital for so many days.
So, they must be either rich farmers or somebody might have sponsored their Delhi trip and they stay in the capital all these days, say YSR Congress party leaders.
“How can they be called farmers, when they can afford to go to Delhi by flights? They are definitely paid artistes of the TDP,” state minister from Srikakulam Seediri Appala Raju alleged.
It is learnt several NRIs have been sponsoring the agitation of Amaravati farmers apart from the TDP leaders.
“They are getting funds from NRIs abroad regularly to sustain the movement, since these NRIs have huge stakes in Amaravati,” sources said.
Interestingly, former MLA and Kapu leader Vangaveeti Radhakirshna also has accompanied the Amaravati JAC leaders to New Delhi and taken part in the agitation of the farmers at Raj Ghat on October 2.
May be, he, too, has sponsored the Delhi trip of the JAC leaders.
