TRS planning to capture all municipalities?

It looks like Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has worked out a plan to capture all the municipalities in Telangana, barring two municipalities won by his friendly Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen.

As per the final outcome of the results of the municipal elections, the TRS has won 104 municipalities, while the Congress gained majority in eight – Adibhatla, Chanduru, Halia, Manikonda, Narsingi, Pedda Amberpet, Waddepalli and Turka Yamjal.

The Bharatiya Janata Party could win three – Amangal and Makthal and Tukkuguda.

The TRS rebels fielded by former minister Jupally Krishna Rao won two municipalities – Kollapur and Ija, under the banner of All India Forward Block; whereas MIM captured two municipalities – Bhainsa and Jalpalli. Readmore!

Soon after the election results were declared, the TRS technical team identified the municipalities where the party has fallen short of majority. They also worked out the number of seats required to capture these municipalities.

When KCR came to Telangana Bhavan, the TRS headquarters, in the evening, the technical team placed all these figures before him.

He quickly adjusted the number of MLAs, MLCs, Lok Sabha members, Rajya Sabha members, Zilla Parishad chairpersons and mandal parishad chairpersons, who could be co-opted into various municipalities where the TRS has fallen short of majority.

Now, except the two municipalities which were won by the MIM, the TRS chief made the arrangements to capture all the remaining 118 municipalities.

Even in the two municipalities won by the TRS rebels, KCR refused to take them into the party and decided to capture them with the help of co-opted members and independents, thereby giving a big shock to Jupally Krishna Rao.

With regard to municipal corporations, the TRS could win seven out of nine corporations straightaway.

With regard to Ramagundam, the TRS will be able to capture it with the help of co-opted members and in Nizamabad, where the BJP emerged as the single largest party with 28 out of 60 seats, the TRS is joining hands with the MIM and capture the corporation.

So, it will be opposition-free civic bodies in Telangana now!
