Trade Report: Disastrous December!

November turned out to be the worst month for Tollywood in 2017. There was not much progress in December either as Tollywood witnessed just one hit film in the entire month.

More than half a dozen notable films were released in December and only MCA was able to set the cash registers ringing.

More than twenty films were released in the last month of last year, but only Nani’s MCA came out successful.

Sai Dharam Tej had high hopes on Jawaan, but it ended up as a big flop in spite of registering decent opening. Readmore!

Saptagiri tried his best to make his Saptagiri LLB a hit, but the film failed to stay afloat.

Sumanth’s Malli Raava made some buzz but couldn’t escape a flop.

Akkineni Akhil’s re-launch was way better than his debut film. However, it failed to recover the high production cost and ended up as a big dud in terms of return on investment.

Allu Sirish’s ambitious science fiction thriller Okka Kshanam also couldn’t get going in spite of decent word of mouth.

2 Countries starring Sunil was a non-starter and turned out to be one of the biggest flops in the actor’s career.

There are a few other films like B.Tech Babulu, Juliet Lover of Idiot, Seetha Ramuni Kosam and E Ee that tanked without a trace.

Trade is hoping that coming Sankranthi will be as fruitful as recent Sankranthi seasons where Tollywood box office had witnessed multiple super hits.
