Telangana Cong seniors wanted pact with BRS?

Senior of the Telangana Congress, who raised a banner of revolt against Pradesh Congress Committee president A Revanth Reddy and former AICC in-charge of Telangana Manickam Tagore, have preferred an understanding with the Bharat Rashtra Samithi in a bid to prevent Bharatiya Janata Party from coming to power.

This was revealed by Telangana Congress general secretary Addanki Dayakar in an interview to a television channel. Manickam Tagore brought this matter to the high command in his report, Dayakar said.

According to him, the seniors put forth the proposal before the high command almost nine months ago, suggesting that it would be better if the Congress had an understanding with the BRS (then TRS), if the BJP has to prevented from capturing power in the state.

“Rahul Gandhi was not interested in the proposal. Yet, he asked our opinions and we categorically rejected it saying it amounted to accepting the defeat of the Congress in the elections and surrendering to the BRS,” Dayakar said. Readmore!

He alleged that some of the Congress seniors had secret understanding with Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. In fact, KCR, who had gone to Bihar, had broached the subject with chief minister Nitish Kumar. A couple of days later, Nitish met Rahul Gandhi and asked him to take KCR into the anti-BJP front, but Rahul did not evince interest.

“The BRS is still trying for an understanding with the Congress. And these so-called senior Congress leaders still lobbying for the same. They are acting as covert supporters of the BRS,” he alleged.

However, Dayakar said, PCC chief Revanth Reddy has been firmly opposing any kind of understanding with the BRS.

“He also made Rahul Gandhi issue a statement in this regard, saying there was no question of having any alliance with the BRS. He also warned that those who made any such attempt would be shunted out of the party,” the PCC general secretary said.
