As expected, the Vijayawada cops who have been virtually groping in the dark for the last three days to find out the real perpetrators behind the stone pelting at YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy are said to have zeroed in on TDP leader Bonda Uma Maheshwar Rao.
Within minutes of the attack, the YSRCP leaders have been accusing the TDP leaders of conspiring to harm Jagan physically. In fact, the chief minister himself has openly accused TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu of instigating the people to attack him with stones.
But since the police cannot directly fix Naidu in the case, they are looking for the local TDP leader and finally, they are learnt to have decided to implicate former MLA Bonda Umamaheshwar Rao, whose constituency Vijayawada (central) covers Ajit Singh Nagar where the incident took place.
The police picked up five or six boys from the area and after interrogating them, they allegedly took a statement from them saying they were instigated by Bonda Uma to pelt stone at him.
TDP sources said on coming to know about the plan of the police authorities to fix him, Bonda Uma switched off his phone and went underground, obviously to get anticipatory bail, fearing that he might be arrested in the case.
Whether the case will be proved or not is a different question, but it will immediately serve the political purpose of the YSRCP and a setback for the TDP, as Bonda Uma is vigorously campaigning for the party in Vijayawada.
