If Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has his way, former deputy chief minister and senior TRS leader Kadiyam Srihari is going to be appointed as the next chairman of Telangana state legislative council.
Kadiyam, who enjoyed prominent position in the last cabinet of KCR as deputy chief minister with higher education portfolio, has been hoping for a cabinet berth this term also.
However, there were complaints against him that he had not worked sincerely for the victory of the TRS candidates in some of the constituencies in Warangal district.
He has lobbied for the party ticket for his daughter from Station Ghanpur constituency in the recent elections, but has failed to get the same. This has apparently proved negative for him.
Now that the tenure of present council chairman K Swamy Goud is coming to an end, the post is going to fall vacant shortly.
Swamy Goud is not willing to take up the position again and therefore, the chief minister is looking for a senior leader to replace him. And Kadiyam Srihari has turned out to be an ideal choice.
On the other hand, the deputy speaker post in the assembly may be given to either Rekha Naik or Redya Naik as it is reserved for SC.
According to the rumours doing rounds in political circles, Redya Naik has given the top priority for the deputy speaker post. If he is not willing to take up the post, Rekha Naik will be chosen for it.
