LULU Hypermarket, renowned in the Gulf Countries, recently inaugurated its inaugural mall in Telangana at Kukatpally in Hyderabad.
Over the past weekend, from Friday to Monday, which coincided with Gandhi Jayanthi holiday, the mall witnessed an overwhelming influx of visitors.
This surge in footfall led to a flurry of vlogs and extensive publicity, generating significant attention for the mall. However, regrettably, it brought disgrace to Hyderabad with the behavior of some crowds.
The massive crowds that flocked to the mall proved to be beyond the control of the mall staff.
A distressing situation emerged as many visitors indulged in consuming cookies, cakes, fruits and other food items without bothering to pay at the checkout counters.
Additionally, some of them emptied Coca-Cola cans and other juice bottles, discarding them haphazardly on the shelves.
Observers couldn't help but wonder if the people of Hyderabad were truly in such dire need of free food to resort to such desperate actions.
Nevertheless, it is a testament to the magnanimity of Lulu Management that they refrained from lodging complaints or engaging in confrontations with customers to protect their brand reputation.
When asked about their reaction to this mass frenzy and unauthorized consumption of food items, a Lulu manager stated, "We hold the people of Hyderabad in high regard, and we chose to remain silent. We appreciate the attention the mall has garnered and look forward to a better situation next week through mutual cooperation and coordination between our management and customers."
It is noteworthy that the majority of those involved in this regrettable episode of free food consumption were not economically backward individuals.
Instead, they were software engineers and regular middle and above middle class crowds who had arrived at the mall in cars and cabs.
