YSR Congress party general secretary and parliamentary party leader V Vijay Sai Reddy on Saturday admitted that some people from the ruling party were indulging in land grabbing in Visakhapatnam by misusing his name.
Sai Reddy said chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy had already warned against any land encroachments in Visakhapatnam and given strict instructions to the police to take stringent action against such people.
“Recently, it has come to my notice that some party leaders had resorted to illegal land dealings in Visakhapatnam, claiming that they were close to me. I told the police to arrest them and book them in various cases,” he said.
The Rajya Sabha member asked the people to bring to his notice if anybody misused his name and indulged in land encroachments.
“There is no question of leaving anybody, irrespective of their influence and stature. The government would take punitive action against such land encroachers,” he said.
Three days ago, the YSRC leadership suspended senior leader and former chairman of Andhra Pradesh Technology Services Koyya Prasad Reddy on the charges of land grabbing.
Apparently, Prasad Reddy had misused the name of YSRC general secretary and Rajya Sabha member V Vijay Sai Reddy and also that of Visakhapatnam Collector in settling some land deals in the port city.
