It appears a silent rebellion is brewing within Bharatiya Janata Party in Andhra Pradesh against present party president Somu Veerraju, as many of the party leaders are said to be unhappy with his style of functioning.
According to reports in a section of media, some senior BJP leaders from the state met a star hotel in Vijayawada on Sunday evening to discuss the going-on in the party and the future course of action.
Though the meeting was essentially meant for felicitating BJP national general secretary Y Satya Kumar under the auspices of BJP leader and national labour welfare board chairman Jayaprakash Narayana, there was no invitation to Veerraju for the meeting.
Senior leaders Kanna Lakshminarayana, Turaga Nagabhushanam, Lanka Dinakar, Jammula Shyam Kishore, Paturi Nagabhushanam, Kilaru Dileep, former MLA P Vishnu Kumar Raju and others attended the meeting.
It is learnt during the entire meeting, there was no mention of the name of Somu Veerraju. The leaders called for a change of leadership in the party to rejuvenate the party cadres.
Many of the speakers suggested that Satya Kumar, who played a major role in the victory of the BJP in the recent Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, should focus on Andhra Pradesh and asked him to take charge of the party activities in the state.
This led to the talk that these leaders would bring pressure on the party high command to change the state BJP president and entrust the responsibilities to Satya Kumar.
Watch out for more developments on this front!
