Revanth seeks CBI probe into Kokapet land scam

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president and Malkajgiri MP A Revanth Reddy on Thursday called for a thorough investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the alleged scam in the recent auction of lands at Kokapet by the Telangana government.

Revanth met CBI director Subodh Kumar Jaiswal in New Delhi and submitted a a dossier on the Kokapet lands, along with a memorandum seeking a deep investigation into the auction of the lands for a cheaper rate, causing around Rs 1,000 crore loss to the state exchequer.

Revanth told reporters later that he would also meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah to represent on the alleged land scam to favour a few firms close to the relatives of chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.

Revanth lodged a complaint against KCR and his family members, chief secretary Somesh Kumar, Industries secretary Jayesh Ranjan, municipal administration principal secretary Arvind Kumar and Siddipet collector Venkatram Reddy. Readmore!

Complaint was also lodged against direct beneficiaries of the land scam – My Home Group, besides Raj Pushpa Housing and Manne Satyanarayana Reddy, brother of Mahabubnagar MP M Srinivas Reddy.

In his memorandum, Revanth said the scam also involved Metal Scrap Trading Corporation (MSTC), a Central government undertaking which is into e-commerce trade. This PSU joined hands with certain public servants of the Telangana government through which a few builders close to KCR secured huge financial gains.

He said two real estate groups of Hyderabad – Rajapushpa Group, which is owned by family members of Siddipet collector Venkataram Reddy, and My Home Group, both very close to the chief minister, have manipulated, formed cartel and grabbed the lands at a discounted price. 

“Though located in a same area, the price variation between identical plots was more than 45-50 percent. By not conducting the auction in a transparent manner, the government has lost Rs 1,000 crore in the entire deal,” he pointed out.
