Revanth mark on Congress second list again!

The Congress party on Friday released its second list of 45 candidates for the assembly elections in Telangana, scheduled to be held on November 30.

Taking into consideration the 55 names released in the first list released on October 15, the party has so far cleared names for 90 out of 119 assembly seats in Telangana.

As expected, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president A Revanth Reddy has displayed his mark on the list of candidates, though he was forced to accommodate a few seniors against wishes, only to avoid friction within the party.

Prominent among those who made it to the second list include: former ministers Tummala Nageshwar Rao from Khammam, G Chinna Reddy from Wanaparthi, and Konda Surekha from Warangal (East), former MPs Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy from Palair, Madhu Yashki from L B Nagar and Ponnam Prabhakar from Husnabad. Similarly, former MLAs Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy from Munugode, Malreddy Ranga Reddy from Ibrahimpatnam, Yennam Srinivas Reddy from Mahabubnagar, Revuri Prakash Reddy from Parkal, Payam Venkateshwarlu from Pinakapaka (ST) and K Lakshma Reddy from Maheshwaram also figured in the list.

The most notable inclusions in the list Congress are former Indian cricket captain and ex-MP Md Azharuddin from Jubilee Hills constituency and Dr G V Vennela, daughter of revolutionary balladeer Gummadi Vithal alias Gaddar who passed away recently, from Secunderabad Cantonment (SC) constituency.

In all, there are 19 Reddys, two Velamas, two Kammas, one Brahmin, one Muslim, six from Scheduled Tribes, three from Scheduled Castes and the remaining are OBCs in the second list. There are four women candidates in the list belonging to various castes.

Some of those who were accommodated in the second list include recent defectors from other parties – including Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy and Revuri Prakash Reddy from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Tummala Nageshwar Rao, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, Bandi Ramesh, V Jagadishwar Goud and Kumbham Anil Kumar Reddy from Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS).
