Further giving clarity about “RRR”, Rajamouli today said the film has nothing to do with history.
“Let me put it bluntly, ‘RRR’ is not a historical movie. The characters are real but not the story. This is a story of friendship, not about history. I am making the film about the friendship between Komaram Bheem and Alluri Sita Ramaraju, the real-life freedom warriors. I don’t worry about what would historians say about my story as it is a fiction,” he said while speaking to a news channel.
In the first trailer of “RRR” featuring Ram Charan, there is a visual of Alluri Sita Ramaraju’s character donning khaki clothes.
When asked about this, Rajamouli reiterated that he’s showing Ramaraju in police clothes in a part of this movie. In history, there was no reference of Alluri Sita Ramaraju taking up a police job. But Rajamouli is least bothered about the history.
The ‘Baahubali’ director also said that it is more of a friendship movie. It was his dream to cast Ram Charan and NTR together in a story.
“Much before the release of ‘Baahubali’, I had thoughts of bringing them together. We worked on a couple of different storylines but I got excited with this plot,” he continued.
Rajamouli also is noncommittal about the release date of “RRR”. He dropped the hints that the date might change if the lockdown period gets extended further.
