Ponnavolu becomes YSRCP general secretary!

Former additional advocate general of Andhra Pradesh Ponnavolu Sudhakar Reddy has officially entered politics by getting appointed in a key position in the YSR Congress party on Thursday.

Ponnavolu, who has claimed to be an ardent fan of YSR Congress party president and former chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, has been appointed as state party general secretary. However, he will be confined to the legal affairs of the party.

As an additional advocate general, Ponnavolu argued several high profile cases for the Jagan government, particularly those filed against Telugu Desam Party president and present chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu. He was responsible for sending Naidu to jail for nearly two months.

Jagan, who had more than 80 advisors to the government when he was the chief minister, has now appointed, for the first time, an advisor to him in the party. Readmore!

Noted political consultant Alla Mohan Sai Dutt, who had earlier worked for the Bharatiya Janata Party, will now be an advisor to Jagan.

Similarly, another leader Venugopala Krishna Murthy as the state secretary of the YSRCP.

At the same time, Jagan appointed former MLA S V Mohan Reddy as the party president of Kurnool and former MLA Katasani Rambhoopal Reddy as the party president for Nandyal districts.

He also appointed heads of 41 different affiliated organisations of the party.

“Apparently, Jagan wants to overhaul his party organisation and bring in fresh faces,” sources said.
