The Telangana Congress party on Saturday demanded that chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao must break his silence on the community transmission of novel Coronavirus in Telangana State.
Telangana PCC treasurer Gudur Narayana Reddy said the KCR government should inform the people whether or not Telangana had already entered Stage-3 of Coronavirus.
He said many cases have surfaced in the last few days which clearly indicate that Coronaviurs has entered the stage of community transmission.
Citing examples, he said one TRS MLA was reportedly tested positive for Covid-19 today. Another ex-MLA of BJP was also tested positive in the past.
Similarly, the driver of GHMC Mayor B. Rammohan, PA of Finance Minister Harish Rao and a few others were also tested positive.
"If there is no community transmission, then how these people got infected with Covid-19. They had no travel history nor do they fall into the category of Migrants, Deportees, Foreign Evacuees or other categories so far defined by the authorities. These are the clear cases wherein the source of infection is not known," he said.
The Congress leader advised the chief minister to come out of denial mode for everything.
"We cannot win the war against Coronavirus by hiding the facts. We must learn to accept the reality to have a head-on battle against Covid-19. The State Government can hide the real numbers only for a few days. But this approach will bring catastrophic results,” he said.
In an effort to show lesser number of Covid-19 patients now, KCR government will end up increasing the death toll in the next few weeks. Those infected with the virus need available medicines and best possible medicare.
“If they are denied treatment today, then their condition will certainly deteriorate and might even result in their death in near future," he said.
