Despite being a Friday, Jan 10 has been ignored by Sankranthi biggies Sarileru Neekevvaru and Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo for sentimental reasons.
1 Nenokkadine, a box office disaster starring Mahesh Babu was released on the same day. Pawan Kalyan's all time disaster Agnyathavaasi also was released on Jan 10.
Coincidentally, Anil Sunkara, the producer of Sarileru Neekevvaru was one of the producers for 1 Nenokkadine. Agnyathavaasi was produced by Harika Hassine Creations and directed by Trivikram.
Given the sentimental reasons, both the films decided to give up on traditional Friday release. Sarileru Neekevvaru is slated for Jan 11 and Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo is scheduled for release on Jan 12.
But coming second has turned out to be a headache for AVPL as it couldn't get enough screens on day 1. Hence, Allu Arjun is demanding to advance the release to Jan 10.
Trivikram is totally against releasing on Jan 10 as the day still gives him nightmares. He is okay to have direct clash with SLNE on Jan 11, but is not willing to go for Jan 10.
Ultimately, it is the content that prevails, but Telugu Cinema is all about silly sentiments.
