After cracking the whip on social media activists of the YSR Congress party for their alleged vulgar and obscene posts on social media against the TDP leaders and their alliance partners, the Andhra Pradesh police are now targeting film personalities who had targeted the TDP leaders during the YSRCP regime.
On Wednesday, the Andhra Pradesh police served notice on ace director Ram Gopal Varma for posting derogatory comments and pictures on social media against TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu, his son Lokesh and Jana Sena Party president Pawan Kalyan during the release of his film “Vyuham” before the last assembly elections.
Based on a complaint lodged by Maddipadu TDP mandal president M Ramalingam alleging that Varma had resorted to character assassination of Naidu and Pawan Kalyan, a team of Prakasam district police led by Maddipadu sub-inspector Sivaramaiah came down to Jubilee Hills in Hyderabad and served a notice to him, asking him to appear before the police for questioning.
Varma had used several images morphing the pictures of Naidu, Lokesh and Pawan inn the publicity material used for promotion of his film Vyuham, which was primarily targeted at denigrating the TDP-Jana Sena and promote YSRCP led by Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.
A similar case was faced against Varma at Tullur police station as well by state Telugu Rythu vice president Nuthalapati Rama Rao.
He alleged that RGV had projected the TDP and Jana Sena Party presidents in a bad light in the social media posts posting vulgar pictures.
The police have also registered cases against writer-actor and YSRCP leader Posani Krishna Murali and actress Sri Reddy for their previous derogatory comments against Naidu, Lokesh and Pawan.
While Sri Reddy tendered an open apology on social media, Posani is still speaking in an aggressive tone.
Meanwhile, the police are also on the lookout for Raghava Reddy, personal assistant of Kadapa MP Y S Avinash Reddy, who allegedly directed the social media activists to post abusive comments against Naidu, Lokesh, Pawan Kalyan, Sharmila and Sunitha.
Based on a reported confession statement of Varra Ravindra Reddy, the Kadapa police are searching for Raghava Reddy in his native village Ambakapalli, besides Pulivendula and Lingala.
