Both "Mr. Bachchan" and "Double Smart" could potentially turn out to be major disappointments. If this happens, the producers may be safe, but buyers who invested in these films incur significant losses.
Mythri Distributors acquired the rights to "Mr. Bachchan" for â¹12.60 crores in the Naizam area. A few months ago, they earned a profit of around â¹7-8 crores from distributing the film "Salaar." However, the current movie's losses are going to eat away the profits earned with "Salaar".
The producers at Prime Show have recovered past losses with "Hanuman," and acquired worldwide rights of "Double iSmart". While there is speculation about potential losses, it seems clear that "Hanuman's" profits are likely to compensate "Double iSmart" losses.
The situation is particularly challenging for "Mr. Bachchan" in the Naizam area. The rights were sold in Andhra market on 'advance basis', resulting in distributor's losses to be mitigated by future releases from People's Media.
Besides "Dhamaka," all other films have resulted in losses for People's Media. Films like "Ramabanam," "Maname," "Eagle," and "Mr. Bachchan" have incurred substantial losses, with Tollywood circles estimating that the combined losses from these four films exceed Rs 100 crores.
Can it be possible with Prabhas' "Rajasaab" to bring in Rs 100 Cr profit to mitigate these losses? If Rajasaab and Mirai are missed, People's Media's 'Vishwam', 'Swag', etc. are not the films with the hope that they will make huge profits to mitigate all the past losses.
