As Dhurandhar, directed by Aditya Dhar, continues to run in select theatres, the espionage thriller has now made its way to OTT.
The film’s digital debut comes eight weeks after its theatrical release on December 5, 2025, following weeks of rumours and speculation. However, the OTT release has left a section of fans unhappy.
After a successful theatrical run, Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar premiered on Netflix on January 30. Netflix India confirmed the release by opening a reminder option for viewers and announcing on social media, “DHURANDHAR – Watch the epic saga unfold. Now out on Netflix in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.”
It remains unclear whether the film will be released on OTT in the six Gulf countries where its theatrical release was banned.
Soon after the film began streaming in the early hours of Friday, social media was flooded with complaints. Viewers accused the platform of muting dialogues, censoring abusive language, and trimming portions of the film.
Many questioned the logic of censoring an A-rated film on a platform meant strictly for viewers above 18.
One user wrote, “You certify the film as A, but you’ve muted and censored words. Are we a bunch of five-year-olds? Everyone on this app is over 18. Watching a film with so many cuts ruins the raw vibe.” Another commented, “Dhurandhar on Netflix has muted dialogues and censored abuses. If OTT platforms won’t give us the uncut version, who will?”
Fans were further upset by the reduced runtime. Dhurandhar was touted as one of the longest Hindi films in recent years, with a theatrical runtime of around 3 hours and 34 minutes.
Viewers noted that the OTT version runs for roughly 3 hours and 25 minutes, suggesting that nearly 10 minutes have been trimmed.
So far, the makers have not issued any clarification regarding the censored and shortened version streaming on OTT, leaving fans disappointed and demanding answers.
