No more politics please, says Venkaiah

It is now official. Former Vice President of India M Venkaiah Naidu has no intention of returning to active politics. He announced that he has quit politics long ago and he is no more a politician.

“It is not proper for me to come back into politics after being in a Constitutional post for the last five years. So, my career as a politician has come to an end,” Venkaiah said, while speaking at an Atmeeya Sammelanam organised by his friends in Hyderabad.

He, however, said he would continue in his journey in public life again and freely express his opinion on various issues, including politics, without any inhibitions.

“When I was in a high Constitutional position, I had several restrictions and I had to abide by the same. I could not speak freely or meet people freely. Now, there are no such hurdles,” he said. Readmore!

Stating that he will be actively involved in public life, Venkaiah said he would share his experiences and various things he had learnt over the years with youth, women and farmers.

“In return, I will also try to update my knowledge by talking to them,” he said.

The former Vice President of India asked the political leaders to be role models for others.

“It is unfortunate that some leaders are of the view that they might lag behind the others in popularity and not visible in the news, if they do not indulge in personally abusing their rivals. This is a dangerous trend,” Venkaiah said.
