Dalit Engineer Alleges Caste Bias at Microsoft

A complaint has been filed against Microsoft by a software engineer, raising serious but unusual allegations of caste based discrimination.

The matter is now before the legal system, and the claims will only be confirmed after a proper investigation.

Such accusations are rare in global technology companies and have not been widely reported before, making the case unusual and sensitive.

The engineer, a 32 year old professional of Indian origin working in the company’s Hyderabad office, has alleged that his Dalit caste identity affected his work opportunities. Readmore!

In his complaint, he states that he was not allowed to take part in projects involving the Python programming language.

He further claims that some colleagues and supervisors told him that such work was meant only for people from certain castes like Brahmins and Kshatriyas.

According to the filing, he was instead assigned other programming languages like C++, Java, or else janitorial duties. He has said this caused harm to his career progress and personal dignity.

At this stage, these are only allegations. Authorities and the company are expected to examine the facts carefully. If the claims are proven true, those responsible should be held accountable under the law.
