In a swift and surprise development, power star and Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan flew to New Delhi on Friday, amidst the talk that he might cut off the ties with the Bharatiya Janata Party and join hands with the Telugu Desam Party in Andhra Pradesh.
Apparently, Pawan Kalyan got a call from BJP top leadership for an emergency meeting. His Delhi trip followed the visit of BJP state president Somu Veerraju to the national capital to brief about the developments in the state to the national leadership a day before.
According to reports from Delhi, Pawan had a meeting with BJP national president J P Nadda for over 40 minutes. He reportedly explained the political compulsions of Jana Sena in the wake of growing harassment by the Jagan Mohan Reddy government.
The power star is learnt to have complained to Nadda about the nonchalant attitude of the state BJP leadership and its non-cooperation with Jana Sena in fighting against the Jagan government.
However, Nadda reportedly asked Pawan Kalyan not to take any hasty decisions. He told the actor that there was still a lot of time for the assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh and there was no need for either Jana Sena or the BJP to talk about alliances at this stage.
“We shall take a call when it matters. If we take hasty decisions, it might backfire on both the parties. Let us wait for at least six months before the elections and then discuss the seat sharing or alliances,” the BJP national president reportedly told the power star.
Apparently, Veerraju was also upset with Pawan Kalyan for holding a meeting with the TDP president without taking the BJP into confidence. That had sent a wrong message to the BJP cadres, he reportedly told the BJP national leadership.
Sources said Nadda has not given any clarity to Pawan Kalyan about continuing the alliance with the BJP or giving a roadmap on putting up a joint fight against the Jagan government. He simply told Pawan not to be in a hurry.
Meanwhile, Pawan would be holding a two-meeting of Jana Sena’s political affairs committee on Sunday and Monday. He is expected to take a call on his future course of action, including continuing the alliance with the BJP or forging the pact with the TDP.
