The Raja Saab has turned out to be a major disappointment at the box office, even with the advantage of the Sankranti holiday season.
Backed by Prabhas’s star power, the film opened strongly but failed to sustain the momentum.
After a near â¹100 crore worldwide gross opening, it took more than 10 days to finally cross the â¹200 crore mark.
While this milestone does not change the film’s poor verdict, it has helped Prabhas create a unique record in Tollywood.
Prabhas became a massive force in Indian cinema after the Baahubali franchise, directed by S. S. Rajamouli.
The films made him a pan-India star and gave him a strong following across India and overseas markets.
With every new release, his global fan base continued to grow, placing him among the biggest stars in the country.
Coming to the numbers, The Raja Saab has so far collected around â¹142.08 crore net at the Indian box office, which translates to â¹167.65 crore gross.
Overseas, the film has earned about â¹34 crore gross. Together, the film’s 13-day worldwide collection stands at â¹201.65 crore gross.
With this, Prabhas has made history by becoming the first Tollywood actor to have seven films in the â¹200 crore worldwide club.
The list includes Baahubali, Baahubali 2, Saaho, Adipurush, Salaar, Kalki 2898 AD, and now The Raja Saab. He narrowly missed having eight films on the list, as Radhe Shyam ended its run at â¹149.46 crore gross.
Despite this record, The Raja Saab is considered one of Tollywood’s biggest failures in recent times. For Prabhas, it marks his second major setback in the post-Baahubali phase, after Radhe Shyam.
The film may be a disaster, but Prabhas’ box-office pull continues to rewrite records.
