The release of Vijay starrer "Jana Nayagan", which was expected to hit screens this month, has now been ruled out.
The film is currently facing legal and censor-related hurdles, primarily due to its political content.
According to reports, the censor board’s revising committee has asked the makers to remove certain political dialogues and make the required modifications before resubmitting the film for certification.
While the producer and director are reportedly willing to comply with these suggestions, Vijay is said to be firmly opposed to deleting or diluting the political dialogues.
With Vijay set to contest the Assembly elections scheduled for summer 2026, the actor-politician believes that the film should retain its strong punch dialogues and political satire.
Given that "Jana Nayagan" is expected to be his final film before fully entering politics, he is said to be uncompromising on the content.
As things stand, the film’s release may be delayed indefinitely until Vijay provides clear direction to the producer and director regarding the censor changes.
