Naidu responsible for delay in Palamuru-RR scheme

Bharat Rashtra Samithi is suspecting that Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu is responsible for delay in the completion of Rs 50,000 crore Palamuru-Ranga Reddy Lift Irrigation Scheme on Krishna river.

Senior BRS leader and former minister V Srinivas Goud alleged that the Naidu government had lodged false complaints with Krishna Water Disputes Tribunal about the Palamuru-Rangareddy project.

“Naidu has conspired to block three crucial approvals necessary for the project,” he said.

He pointed out that Naidu had, in the past, adopted Palamuru (Mahabubnagar) district during the united Andhra Pradesh era but had failed to develop it. Readmore!

Now, the AP chief minister was trying to stall the development of the backward district by complaining against Palamuru-RR project, he alleged.

He recalled that Prime Minister Modi had promised national status for the Palamuru-Rangareddy project, but due to pressure from Naidu, the proposal had been pushed into cold storage.

Srinivas Goud also accused the AP government of attempting to dominate the Srisailam project.

He urged the Revanth Reddy government to clarify when the Palamuru-Rangareddy project would be completed and advised resolving issues through dialogue with the AP government.

Lastly, he suggested taking an all-party delegation to Delhi to address the concerns regarding the Palamuru-Rangareddy project.

“Revanth Reddy, who hails from the Palamuru district, has failed to protect its interests,” he said.

Srinivas Goud claimed that there is heavy propaganda suggesting no water supply would result from the Palamuru-Rangareddy project.

On one hand, CM Revanth Reddy promises water for 12 lakh acres through the Palamuru-Rangareddy project, but on the other hand, the central government has not granted the necessary approvals.

He reminded everyone that the trial run of the Palamuru-Rangareddy project was completed during the BRS regime, and the environmental clearances were obtained for the DPR submitted at that time.

He emphasized that Telangana has the right to utilize 45 TMC of water upstream of the Nagarjuna Sagar dam and mentioned that Telangana has 90 TMC of net water allocation.
