The Andhra Pradesh government, led by Telugu Desam Party president and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, is reported to have decided to withdraw the cases filed by the previous Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy government against Margadarsi Chit Funds, promoted by the late Ch. Ramoji Rao.
According to senior YSRCP leader and former minister Ambati Rambabu, the Naidu government has decided to withdraw the cases filed by the Crime Investigation Department of the state police against Margadarsi Chits.
“It is a clear example of quid pro quo,” he said.
Speaking to the media at the party's central office here on Friday, Ambati emphasized that Chandrababu Naidu's main objective is to protect the interests of the Ramoji family and their businesses.
He described Ramoji Rao as a "white-collar criminal" involved in various financial irregularities.
He questioned the legality of withdrawing the cases, stating that it was intended to shield Ramoji's empire from legal scrutiny.
Rambabu stated that he would pursue legal action against this quid pro quo.
He also criticized the TDP government for focusing on the interests of those who supported them in previous elections, rather than fulfilling their promises to the public.
Referring to the Kadambari Jethwani case, Rambabu expressed concern over the government's actions, comparing their strategy to "attempting an impossible task with a flawed approach."
He emphasized that any efforts to fabricate accusations would ultimately backfire on the government.
