Naidu to order probe into Vizag land scams

Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has reportedly decided to order a comprehensive investigation into alleged irregularities in land allotments and dealings across the state, particularly in Visakhapatnam.

Naidu first revealed his intentions during the Collectors' conference on August 5, alleging that the previous Jagan Mohan Reddy government had introduced the “land freehold policy” with the malicious intent of appropriating large tracts of land from the government and innocent assignees.

Naidu is said to be focusing particularly on land scams in Visakhapatnam, including issues related to Daspalla lands, Hayagreeva Infra lands, Rama Naidu Studio land purchases, allotments to Sarada Peetham at Bheemili, as well as freehold permissions for assigned lands and exemptions from the 22-A provision of land acts.

However, since any hasty action could lead to legal complications, the Chief Minister has reportedly instructed officials to consult legal experts, including local lawyers, public prosecutors, and standing council advocates. Readmore!

Sources indicate that Special Chief Secretary (Revenue) R.P. Sisodia visited Visakhapatnam three days ago to collect documents related to these land dealings. He also met with local tehsildars and sub-registrars to assess the legal status of these transactions.

“The government will review the status of various cases concerning these lands before proceeding with any actions,” sources said.
