"Kalki 2898 AD" is the most ambitious dystopian thriller being made in Telugu cinema.
Nag Ashwin, who wowed audiences with the stunning "Mahanati," a biopic of late actress Savitri, is directing "Kalki" with a staggering Rs 400 to Rs 500 crore budget.
The film, which stars Prabhas, Kamal Haasan, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, and Disha Patani, boasts first-rate visual effects.
Earlier this year, a video preview of the film's massive scale was released. The video teaser confirmed that the film is being made with cutting-edge technology and spectacular visual effects.
However, Nag Ashwin wanted to hire local talent for visual effects and promote the film as "Made in India," but he was unable to do so due to a variety of constraints.
"Despite my vision and intention to use local talent for visual effects on this film, I was unable to do so. We're using Hollywood technicians and talent for this film," he explained.
Nag Ashwin, on the other hand, has promised to use only Indian technicians in his next film in the department of visual effects.
