Liger Is Second Innings For Me: Puri Jagannadh

Team Liger is going all-out in promoting the movie and they upped the game, as the movie is releasing in less than a week.

Here are the highlights from Charmme as a cinema fan interviewed Vijay and Puri.

The film’s trailer got extraordinary response. However, some felt that, why didn’t they disclose the film’s storyline and whether they will be releasing another trailer.

“Liger is a fully loaded commercial movie with adrenaline rush moments. Many expected dialogues in the trailer. The story of the movie is very rooted. Mom and son from Karimnagar go all the way to Mumbai. The mother’s dream is to see her son as a national champion.”

Vijay stated that if the audience get excited, then the trailer’s job is done.

“The trailer’s job is not to reveal the story. The story will be revealed in the theatre. We wanted to break the regular formula.”

Charmme enquired about Mike Tyson’s different avatar in cowboy getup. Puri replied saying, he wanted to give a new look to Mike Tyson.

“The climax between Vijay and Mike Tyson is very new. The situation is also very new.”

Vijay stated that he learnt a lot from Mike Tyson.

“Tyson wakes up at 4 AM every day, irrespective of any circumstance and does his work outs. He doesn’t miss this routine, even though he’s unwell and is injured. He’s a great inspiration for me.”

Earlier, Puri used to complete his films within 6 months. However, due to covid and some other reasons it took 3 years for him to wrap up the movie. The director gave an interesting answer to this.

“The movies I did before pandemic and after pandemic are different. Liger is a second innings for me. I feel like it’s my first movie. From now on, I’ll take time and put my in maximum efforts. I’ll mostly do another 10 more movies.”

Vijay said that he always wanted to do larger than life movies and he’s happy to associate with Puri for back-to-back movies.

Charmme recalled the financial crisis during covid times and why they refused massive OTT deals.
