Leo: Vijay-starrer witnesses 44% drop on 2nd day

After a historic opening day at the box office, Vijay-starrer "Leo" experienced a significant drop in collections on its second day.

The Lokesh Kanagaraj film, which earned Rs 140 crore in worldwide gross on its opening day with Rs 64.8 crore nett in India, saw a decline to Rs 36 crore on the second day, marking a drop of around 44%, according to industry tracker Sacnilk.

In India, the gross collections started at Rs 74 crore but dropped to Rs 42.50 crore on the second day. The film's primary market is Tamil Nadu, where it made Rs 24 crore gross.

In Andhra Pradesh-Telangana and Kerala, it earned Rs 6 crore gross each, and in Karnataka, the number stood at Rs 4.50 crore gross. Despite the drop, "Leo" crossed the Rs 100 crore mark in domestic nett collections within two days. Readmore!

The decline in collections might be due to a lukewarm audience response.

It remains to be seen if the film can regain momentum in the upcoming weekend. "Leo" faced various challenges before its release, including objections to its posters and the cancellation of the audio launch event.

Despite the cancellation of early morning shows in Tamil Nadu, the film had a strong opening day. However, whether "Leo" can sustain its momentum compared to Rajinikanth's "Jailer," which grossed Rs 604.25 crore worldwide and became the highest Tamil grosser of the year, remains uncertain.
