Naga Shaurya burned his hands by attempting action dramas recently. So, he made a comeback to the romantic genre and the trailer of this new rom-com ‘Krishna Vrinda Vihari’ evoked some laughs.
Let’s find out its merits and demerits.
Story:
Krishna (Naga Shaurya), a youngster who hails from an orthodox Brahmin family in the Godavari district, gets a job as a testing engineer in a software company in Hyderabad. Love, at first sight, happens to him as soon he meets Vrinda (Shirley), his project manager.
She also starts liking him due to his soft and endearing nature. But she cannot love him. For that matter, she cannot marry anyone as she’s suffering from a rare ovarian disease. Even after learning that she cannot have children, Krishna agrees to marry her and proposes to her.
To get his parents agree to their marriage, he lies that he cannot perform in bed due to an injury. What happens next?
Artistes’ Performances:
Naga Shaurya shows he is at home in the romantic genre. As a traditional Brahmin youth as well as a software engineer, he pulls off both shades of his character effortlessly.
New heroine Shirley leaves an impression. She also looks beautiful.
Vennela Kishore plays the role of Dr.Satya and his track provides some good laughs. Brahmaji, Satya, and Rahul Ramakrishna help in the laughs department. Senior actress Radhika in the role of the hero’s mother makes the proceedings watchable.
Technical Excellence:
Music is mixed bag. The songs are below average. Sai Sriram’s cinematography is neat. Art direction and dialogue writing are apt. Editing is okay.

Analysis
“Krishna Vrinda Vihari” begins predictably. Until the film reveals a twist in the tale, it lacks exiting features. Just before the interval, the plot thickens, and from there, the film turns into entertaining mode. The main conflict point and the twist are similar to Nani’s recent release “Ante Sundaraniki”.
Both Nani’s film and Naga Shaurya’s film began production before COVID-19 but got released this year. Though, “Krishna Vrinda Vihari” is a Xerox copy; the film provides more laughs in the second half.
Vennela Kishore is a major asset to this story. The film’s major twist is linked to his character and the ‘payoff’ is served well.
For a contemporary story, the film begins on a regular note. First and foremost, the scenes that happen in a software company are utterly bad. Fighting scenes in a software company, workers doing work as if they are in a market are unrealistic.
The story gets to its groove when the heroine reveals her problem and Naga Shaurya comes up with a weird explanation to get married to her. The subsequent sequences have worked well. The comedy is good. Some jokes are hilarious, some are routine.
On the flip side, the climax of the film is too predictable. The fights are jarring. The Atta-Kodalu drama is not in a good taste. The songs should have been catchier. Generally, Naga Shaurya takes extra care of the music for his productions. But this film lacks a catchy song like “Choosi Choodangane” in “Chalo”.
On the whole, “Krishna Vrinda Vihari” offers some laughs, and watchable moments despite the predictable narrative. It is a pretty average fare.
